by Rachel

**Rachel cut apart the Prima flowers to create the look of the dandelions flying through the air! Great idea!!

best FRIENDS

by Heather (guest designer)

**So beautiful, yet very simple. This layout is made from the strips from the Crate Paper Tag Sheet!!

Cherish

by Heather (guest designer)

**One of Heather's favorite things to use on her pages is foam squares - they work well to give pages dimension. On this page, she used the foam squares for adhering the hearts - see the enlarged picture of the hearts on the right - the hearts seem to "pop" out of the page! Foam squares can be used on just about anything on your page to add dimension to an otherwise flat page - try them on any die cut shapes (like the hearts), tags, ortitles.

Normally I would say that the sky is the limit, but with this kit – there is NO LIMIT!!!  The Scenic Route paper has just the right amount of fun and pizzazz to add punch to your pages.   From the Heidi Swapp Fuzzy Rub-ons to the Pebbles Inc. Market tags you can find the perfect saying for any page!  Go beyond your limits with the chipboard shapes and frames from Maya Roads ~ and live on the wild side with the amazing Queen and Co. Sassy Sequins and brads!  There really is no limit to what your imagination can bring to this cool and inspiring kit.

**In this layout, Trish created a border for the picture with the Queen & Co. flowers from the kit - very cool!!

Your pages will be Simply Dazzling with this kit!    The Fontwerks paper adds to the diva-ish style in this kit; the patterns will simply stun you!   To go with this awesome paper you have the coordinating Fontwerks decorative rub-ons.  Get ready to strut down the red carpet with your amazing creations that will include the Doodlebug Alpha Stickers and Gin-X Coasters.  No layout would be complete without the Prima flowers and the Queen and Co. brads.  Burn up the big screen with your dazzling creations with the Specialty Bottle round tin, and top off the fringes with rick-rack & ribbon included in this kit.  Go for it “DARLING” – get ready for your close up!

Two great layouts by Patti - on both she shows us different ways to use the Heidi Swapp Journal Spots that are included with this kit. For the 10 Things I learned from Dad layout, she has the Journal spot on the side of the picture with the date. On the V& N layout, she used it behind the picture & journaled "Together at 2"

My Sisters by Jenn

What a fun layout by Jenn! She actually used the small Fontwerks rubon flowers in the middle of the Prima flowers - what a great touch!! She crumpled and inked the paper behind the picture for a more dramatic look. Also check out the title - she used the Pebbles Charm as part of the title...it reads...My Sisters make me happy & the "happy" is on the charm...very cute!

two wild & crazy guys by Patti

Check out the design on this layout!

Patti uses several different geometric shapes combined with the shapes & lines of the Fontworks paper to create an absolutely stunning layout!

Check out the details in these layouts from guest designer Aubrey - absolutely stunning!

Project Idea Instructions

Simply Dazzling Kit #3 – Mini Tin with Accordion Album

by Patti

The mini tin was so much fun and easy to work with.  I created a mini round accordion album that fits inside the tin. Generally, the mini tin will hold an album with 6 to 8 panels based on how lumpy you make your embellishments. I chose to do an album with four panels (one for each kid).

This project idea can be used for many different themes, just a few ideas include a brag book, quote book, a favorite pictures book, my friends theme, a special party or event, or things that make you smile. Have fun!

Figures show the covered tin & inside the tin with album inside.

Required Patterned Paper sizes:

  • Tin top, inside top, inside bottom: 3 ½" circle. You will need 3 pieces from patterned paper as desired.
  • Outside of tin around cover: ¼" wide and 7" long. You will need 2 pieces from patterned paper as desired.
  • Outside of tin bottom around bottom: You will need 2 pieces from patterned paper as desired.

Required Cardstock sizes:

Album "panels": 3 ¾" wide by 7" long.  You will need 3 (for a four page album).

Instructions (instructions are for a 4 panel album - you can repeat for albums with more panels):

To Create the Mini Accordion Album

  • Fold each of the three cardstock panels in half.  Use largest round coaster (or 3 ¾" diameter circle) to trace onto the folded cardstock. The circle will be bigger than the cardstock - line up the circle along the three edges that are not folded, making sure that the circle hangs over on the edge with the fold, so you do not cut through the folded side.  See "Figure 1 - Trace Coaster on Cardstock".
  • Cut out and open. Repeat for all three panels.
  • Adhere the left side of each panel on top of the right side of the precious panel.  (See "Figure 2 - Adhere Cut Pieces Together").  Accordion fold.
  • Decorate each panel (See figures below), accordion fold, put in tin

To Decorate Tin

  • Cover top of tin lid, the inside of tin lid & bottom of tin with the 3 ½" circles.
  • Cover the round the tin, both the lid and the bottom. Each of these will take two pieces that are 7 inches by 1/4". There will be a seam because one piece of 12" paper will not go all the way around. If desired, you can cover seem with flowers, stickers, tags etc. Images of completed tin tip, side & inside are shown above.

Ideas to note:

  • Use a Xyron machine to adhere patterned paper to coaster and panels.  (Run circle through machine, decorate before removing backing, and adhere to panel).
  • Decorate the back of each panel with information about the photo.  For my album I put each child's name, age, height, weight, likes & dislikes, and other info.

Ideas for Using the Crate Paper Bands, Tags & Frames Sheets

Uses for the BANDS
  • to frame a picture
  • as decorative strips on a page
  • weave them together
  • as a border around page
  • as flower stems
  • fan them out as the background of a page (to do so, just stack them on top of each other, attach a brad to connect them, then fan them out)
  • stitch on them
  • draw stitching lines on them
  • use rubons on them for dates, etc.
  • cut into journaling strips
  • cut into squares for accents
  • wider strips could be used for smaller die cut fonts
  • cut and use to spell words

Uses for the TAGS

  • journal on it
  • attach a quote to it
  • create a pocket out of it
  • mat a small picture with it
  • use as part of a title
  • attach brads, eyelets, ribbons or fiber

Uses for the FRAMES

  • use circle frame to highlight subject in a group or far away picture
  • separate first letter or small part of the title
  • frame journaling or a picture
  • journal inside to highlight journaling

Of course these ideas can be used for ANY of those tags sheets that you bought & have sitting around.

More ideas for the Gin-X Coasters

We previously featured the colored Gin-X coasters in our March Newsletter & gave some fun ideas on how to use. Here are a few more ideas on using the blank Gin-X coasters.

  • Cover with patterned paper or cardstock that coordinates with your layout & adhere as embellishment. Will add some dimension to the layout.
  • Put a picture on one - it will make the picture "pop" in the layout.
  • Leave them white and write on them
Cut them in half (or other shapes) and use them that way.
Let a little stick out next to a picture and use it as an index tab.
  • Use rubons on them
  • Use paints, inks or watercolors to decorate.
Use them as centers of flowers.
  • Use them as the cover of a mini album
  • Put title letters on them for added interest.
Use them like bubbles from a bath

Die-cut Organizational Idea

Check this out....here is how Jennifer (sillypea) has her diecuts organized! What a great reference & a fun scrapbooking decoration for a scrap room. This way you won't forget about the dies that you have & they will actually get used for your layouts!

Thanks for sharing your tip with us!

If you have organizational tips or ideas, please submit to elayne@thescrapbooksite.com - we would love to feature you and your idea in our next newsletter.
